Program Directors provide exceptional opportunity to help manage all aspects of BE Dance education and training. Program Directors have significant artistic responsibility as instructors, choreographers and production assistants. In addition, Program Directors support the Executive Artistic Director in managing education and training initiatives and their outreach programs. Program Director positions require individuals who can take direction and collaborate well with fellow Program Directors, Marketing, Development and Finance team members, while also exercising considerable independence and initiative, manage students of various ages, communicate well (both written and verbally) with customers and collaborators, establish class and rehearsal schedules and manage time optimally.
Program Directors responsibilities include the development and management of new and existing programming and partnerships, hiring and training teaching artists, developing and maintaining collaborative relationships internally and in the community, and recruitment and growth of dedicated program and organization reach. Program Directors are responsible for the development and implementation of program curriculum, events, workshops, community engagement initiatives, etc. in keeping with the mission and values of BE Dance and under the artistic vision and leadership of the Artistic Director.
There are four (4) Program Director positions, each responsible for 1 of the following education and training endeavors of BE Dance:
The Community Program: The Community Program is designed to build trust and credibility in the community, while fostering an appreciation for concert dance and ongoing engagement. Community programs allow for company visibility, while providing low risk access to the community without diminishing value, quality or resources. Community programs teach the world about us - helps them understand who, what and why we exist, as well as gives language/insight into our work and how it relates to their daily lives. Classes within the Community Program include Adult dance and fitness classes, dance for Seniors and dance for students with disabilities.
The Children’s Program - The Children’s Program is open to ages 2 - 16 years of age, and is designed to foster an appreciation for dance (the arts) and long term engagement. This program encourages the joy of dance/movement, music, art and creativity, providing structure to the world through exploration. Children’s Programs offer dance lessons as it relates to child development and socialization, in hopes of cultivating ongoing relationships as students, artists, supporters, and friends of the arts throughout life.
The Young Artists Program: The purpose of the Young Artist Program is to further the artistry and training for students ages 8 - 17 interested in pursuing a more vivid and directed dance study. This program is designed to instill an appreciation and understanding of creativity and artistry and the work ethic necessary to pursue a future career. Young Artists Students receive the highest caliber progressive dance education, as well as performance, creative and professional opportunities for students to continue to develop their craft. Acceptance into the Young Artists Program is by formal invitation and/or audition only.
Emerging Artists Program: The Emerging Artists Studio is designed to further the artistry and training of students ages 18 - 25 interested in pursuing professional careers in dance. The Emerging Artists Program will enhance and maximize student's artistry and creativity by providing the highest caliber dance education and offering classes, performance, workshops and professional opportunities for students to progress their professional dance careers. Emerging Artists will be given apprenticeship opporutnities to perform with BE Dance Theatre. Acceptance into the Emerging Artists Program is by formal invitation and/or audition only.
